CITAM Clay City Breaks Ground for New Sanctuary

There was joy and celebration on Friday, 10th April 2026 when Rev. Dr. Calisto Odede, the Presiding Bishop, laid the foundation stone to signifiy the official ground breaking for CITAM Clay City’s new sanctuary construction.

This exciting development comes under the Together In Generosity (TIG) initiative, a vision by Bishop Calisto Odede, that continues to transform assemblies across CITAM. And now, CITAM Clay City steps into a new season of growth, with construction set to be completed in about 6-9 months. We thank you God for everyone who has given towards TIG and encourage us to continue redeeming our pledges.

The beautiful ceremony was led by the assembly’s Senior Pastor, Rev. Elly Ochieng’, flanked by other assembly pastors, staff and leaders. The occasion was also attended by Rev. Justus Mugambi (Deputy Bishop), Mr. Michael Wamache (DFA), Rev. Jesse Mwai (Northern Regional Overseer), Rev. Paul Njoroge (Deputy Regional Overseer) members of the Deacon Board, the Council of Elders, the CITAM HQ and TIG teams, the Assembly TIG Committee, and several congregants, all united in awesome celebration and thanksgiving.

One of the most memorable moments of the day was when the Presiding Bishop climed on the excavator and dug out the very first scoop of earth. It was a powerful and symbolic act marking the official start of construction. It was a sight that drew jubilant cheers from the crowd.

The unveiling of the ceremonial plaque followed, with photos taken to commemorate the eventful day. Prayers were lifted, a sermonette by bishop shared, and hearts aligned in gratitude.

As CITAM Clay City embarks on this exciting journey, one thing is clear: the foundation being laid is not just of stone and steel, but of faith, and generosity.

And in nine months’ time, this congregation will say goodbye to a worn-out tent and a leaking roof. It will be a beautiful home for worship and community.
